For Special Education Cases:
In all cases other than emergency residential placements or expulsion hearings, our procedure is as follows:
Provide copies, including medical, psychological, school, independent assessment, etc. in a 3 ring binder, 3 hole punched with the earliest records on top of all of your child's records. Do not separate them into categories. Our preference is that you begin at birth or as early as possible to ensure that the records are comprehensive. Please make sure that the binder is large enough to enable the pages to be freely turned. Multiple binders may be used, if necessary.
(If you do not have copies of your child's school records, phone our office and we will get you a form letter to send to the school district to obtain them).
We also need a detailed description of the issues that have led you to seek representation for your child, the interventions, strategies or steps you have already taken to try to resolve the problem and what you are hoping to accomplish by retaining counsel.
Lastly, we require a check or payment via pay pal or credit card. Please contact us to discuss our fee to review any new special education matter. This fee will cover the review of all written materials, a meeting with parent(s) and in some cases, the child, wherein the results of the file review and options are discussed and decisions made about how to proceed.
For emergency cases, such as residential placements, expulsions or physical danger to parent or student, or if you are unable to assemble a book as set forth above, please contact us via phone or email to make arrangements for immediate and custom services.
